As an Internet marketer, one of the key priorities is to get your site to rank highly on the search engines. When discussing about search engine optimization, two things are of paramount importance - the content on your website and the number of quality backlinks you have. There may be a few other minor factors to consider, but the two aforementioned factors are the two things you'd want to concentrate on. So do you "conquer" the search engines and achieve sky high rankings? In this article, I will highlight to you some methods which you can use to hit a "home run" in the search engines:

1. Make sure your content is unique and "scrapped" from other sites. Not only will this cause plagiarism issues, but search engines do recognize duplicate content and punish it from time to time.

2. Use a good keyword density in your content. Let's say you want your website to rank highly for the term "golf equipment". You'd want to include the phrase "golf equipment" throughout your content occasionally. Do it sparingly and don't overdo it as the search engines may think you are trying to trick the system. A good keyword density to aim for is 2% to 5%, which means for every words on the page, 2 to 5 may contain your keyword phrase.

3. Consistently build on the number of backlinks you have coming to your site. Backlinks simply means incoming links which point to your site from other websites. You can trade links with other webmasters, buy links, include your site in article directories and make forum posts. Those are proven ways to get backlinks quickly.

So there you have it. Getting a good search engine ranking doesn't have to be hard. But too many people get caught up in the beginning with all the complicated factors and lose sight of what really works. Keep it simple first, and once you've seen your site shoot up the rankings, some additional tactics may come in handy. But we'll save those for another article!

Having spent money or time to get this traffic it would seem criminal to just lose it without making a fuss. So what are you going to do about those that will not buy on the first visit to your website? Will you for the sake of 2-5% lose a potential 95%? Think about that for a moment.

Build a list - your very own opt-in list, capture the contact details of the 95% non buyers, follow them up and build a meaningful relationship with them. A relationship that ensures you are no longer a stranger when they receive your email, you can then direct them to your website with a higher prospect of making a sale. - alot higher than the 2-5% most marketers are happy to settle for.

Article submission is a topic that does not get as much focus as article writing. And yet how you submit your articles can make or break your article marketing efforts.

In my experience coaching hundreds of article writers and marketers, I've come across three common mistakes made by both new and experienced article writers and marketers.

Let's take a closer look at each of these three mistakes and what to do instead.

Mistake #1 - Don't submit - Believe it or not, there are many article writers you simply do not submit their articles. Procrastination and fear of rejection are the two most common reasons for not submitting articles. You simply must push past the procrastination and do it now. Procrastinate later, do it now. Article directories, the good ones that is, will help you get your article up to speed if it needs a bit of tweaking before it is published. No need to fear rejection here.

Mistake #2 - Believing that just as few will do - I've heard this from the whiners out there - "I submitted some articles and got nothing, this stuff doesn't work." This stuff works, you just didn't work it. This is a numbers game - the more articles you get our there working for you, the better article marketing will work for you. At 882 articles if this one is accepted, I know article marketing works, and works well.

Mistake #3 - You don't know what you don't know - I've found that many article writers just sort of "throw up" their article and up for the best. I've identified at least 30 specific nuances to successful article submission that result in your getting your articles getting picked up more often and over the competition. For example one tip is "Key words come first" in your title. "The Top 7 Reasons You Need to Write and Market Articles" is a bad title. "Article Writing - The Top 7 Reasons You Need to Ramp Up Your Article Writing" is a great title. Key words come first.

Avoid theses mistakes and use these tips when submitting your articles.

One of the most common questions asked by those who are new to Internet marketing is: how do I get traffic to my site? This is an important question, because without traffic, your website is like a department store out in the middle of the Gobi desert. No one will find it, and you won't make any money. Tip #1- Write and Submit

You can explain how eating certain foods can dramatically enhance your health. Near the end of the article, you add a small bio about yourself with a link to your website. You will naturally want to link to the website where you're selling the product. Once you do this, you submit the article to all the best article directories on the Internet.

Tip #2-Track the articles

After you begin submitting your sites to link directories, you will need to track how many links you have. The links are critical, because they allow your websites to rank better with the search engines. The better your site ranks with the search engines, the more traffic and readers you will receive. Having more targeted traffic means more sales.

Tip #3-Can you dominate?

However, what if you want to promote in a field in which you don't dominate? If you don't dominate the topic how can you promote it? Not a problem if you have a valuable resource to help you. Then you just need some inspiration.

Tip #4-The resource

You may be surprised to learn that many successful marketers make money in areas they're not even that familiar with. You can do this by simply researching topics on Wikipedia to learn more about them, and then they write articles based on what they've learned.

You have to write a keyword in the search box, for instance: "brides". Then on the bride's page you just read the article some times, taking notes of the main keywords. Next step is using these notes to write an original article.

Tip #5-Powerful title and bio box

It is also important to always write a powerful title for your articles. This will get the attention of readers who come across the article. Having a good bio box is also crucial for you getting your reader's click and get him to your website

You've just finished putting in all kinds of effort towards getting your website online. You're ready to take orders and make sales. The only problem is... No one can find your website! You need to get listed in the major search engines in order to get visitors to visit your website. What can you do? Follow these 3 steps and the search engines will know about your site in no time at all.

1. Write an article related to the main topic of your website.

Not sure if you know enough about writing to write an article? Don't worry about being perfect. Write about what you know. Keep the article short, between 300-600 words long. When you write the article, give out general information that anyone would gladly post on their site as valuable content. Don't try to sell your product or service in this article.

Remember the goal of the article is for you to get a valuable link back to your website, not to make a sale. 2. Include a resource box at the end of the article with your website link in it.

If you've created a good general information article that is relevant to the topic of your website, you are ready to create your resource box. Keep in mind here to get to the point quickly. It is usually considered fine to promote your product or service in this resource box but it is necessary to keep it short. You should remember that the main point of including this resource box is to get a link going back to your website. The secondary purpose of the resource box is to get readers of your article to click through and visit your website.

When including a link in your resource box, make sure that one of your links includes the main keywords of your home page. Keywords are a fancy term for the phrase or words a visitor will type in to find your website. Make the keyword the clickable portion of the link instead of your web address. Put this keyword text in between your html anchor link.

3. Submit your article to the major article directories.

Once you've created your article, submit it to the major article directories to get the article distributed on as many websites as possible. Some major article directories include EzineArticles.com, ArticleCity.com, GoArticles.com and Isnare.com. Some services like Isnare will even distribute your article for you for a fee.

Do these three steps and search engines will find, crawl, then list your website in their listings. It's as simple as that!

If you have been looking for some bum marketing tips and still not making money, I have some tips you can use to tweak your online business, and hopefully, start making some money. And I will explain through my experiences what were the changes I made and how much money I have made making some of these changes.

I was lazy in the first 2 months and it was only last month that I decided to take action and below are my steps and results. I was using Ewen Chia Super Affiliate and Frank Kern MAss Control Revealed as a basis of my changes in marketing the product webpage and strategy.

These are the changes I made:

Change Number 1: Choose Just 1 Affiliate Product

First step I made was to eliminate the different products I was trying to promote on 1 page and choose just 1 product that I research and feel that it will convert readers to customers.

Change Number 2: Landing page

I made a complete overhaul of my webpage from a review style page to a squeeze page style with just 1 sole purpose, and that is to capture email addresses.

Change Number 3: Headlines

Made some keyword research and change my headlines and sub headlines in order to try to incorporate some search engine optimization as well as appeal to readers to sign up for my newsletter.

Change Number 4: Include Free EBooks

I went scouring around the internet to find some free eBooks that I can give away. The reports are also rebrandable so that when a reader reads the eBook and decides on getting the product, it will be my affiliate links.

Change Number 5: Setup Autoresponder Series

The emails are designed such that the email provides useful value and also include my affiliate links to the product I am trying to promote.

Change Number 6: Outsource My Article Writing

Since I was lazy, I outsource some articles to friends to write and just use articles as my main source of traffic, and I only sent to EzineArticles.com as my only source of traffic.

And that's all there was to it. The change was made on 15 January 2008 and as of 17 February 2008, I made $126.96. And bear in mind, I was doing it the lazy method, mainly using the emails taken from affiliate websites, taking the designs from affiliate product, and free eBooks from the product owners as well. Even some of the articles were not written by me.

Hope some of these bum marketing tips will be helpful for you. You can definitely exceed much more, unless you are as lazy as me. Hope to hear some good news from you.
