My Article Marketing Process, From Beginning to End I

This article is designed to tell you exactly how I do my article marketing, just the way I do it everyday.

I identify a niche. That's kind of a basic level--I did that nine months ago. I know what my niches are so I write around those niches.

The second thing that I'll do is write out my twenty article titles for the day so that I don't have to keep getting creative. I'll do this all in Word, so that I can add to it. I will write out twenty different things that I want to write about today.

So for example, I will type in: "Article-writing, Article-marketing, List-building, Email-marketing, Niche-building, Internet-coaching." I will come up with twenty different things. That's my first step in my creative process. Then I'll go back in and I'll ask myself a question--I'll either ask about something.

For example, Article-writing. I know that I've written a couple of articles about Duplicate-content. I'll go ahead and write the title out: "Article-writing, How to avoid the duplicate-content penalty in Article Marketing." I'll go through and write a title for every single one of them. Then I'll go back in and start writing each article.

Sometimes, you'll run out of ideas. You'll get to two-hundred words and you'll just stop. Go to the next article. Write on that one. When you're finished writing that one, go back and finish the article that you've just done. I do it almost like an assembly-line system. It's almost like an assembly-line. When I'm writing these articles, a lot of times I will close all other windows--all other browser windows, on my computer. I won't answer any emails.

I won't answer the telephone if it rings. I'm just very, very, very focused on writing those articles. So the number two step is to write the articles.

The big disadvantage with this method of internet marketing is that you need to be willing to spend thousands of dollars to test and track which keywords actually convert. This can be very daunting for a beginner.

Ezine advertising also brings in results quickly. However the disadvantage is that often you need to book your adverts weeks or months in advance. You also need to be very good at copywriting so that your emails actually get read and convert to customers. You also need to track and test everything so that you only continue advertising in related ezines that are actually profitable.

Search engine optimization is another method that can be used that is effective. However the disadvantage here is that for a new web site it can take up to a year to get good search engine rankings and with the frequent changes in the search engine algorithms your business can be wiped out if you lose your rankings.

Let us look at my favourite method of internet marketing. With article marketing the disadvantage is that you need to spend a lot of time to write the articles. However, once you have written and submitted your articles to the major article directories they are viral in nature. They get picked up by other webmasters that publish them on their web sites. I would much rather have different sources of traffic than just rely on one source alone which can be very risky. You also get traffic from search engines as they spider your articles in the search engine directories.

It is probably the most reliable method of generating quality traffic to a web site. This method of marketing has been so effective for me that I have stopped ppc and ezine advertising long ago.

Internet users have never had it better what with Yahoo!, Google and MSN planning to roll out more goodies. How do I Get My Product Pages to Rank in Google?

It's a question I hear asked over and over again: "How do I make my product pages rank in the search engines?" Most e-commerce websites struggle with ranking their product detail pages due to three factors: duplicate content penalties, poor internal linking structure, and competition. While nothing can be done about the last issue, much can be said about the first two.

In this article, I'll share some of the tactics I've used to improve product page rankings for my customers.

Don't Use Manufacturer Descriptions:

Resist the temptation to copy and paste manufacturer provided product descriptions. Why? Because all your competitors use them as well. When Google sees multiple pages with the same content, it will likely favor the site in which the content was published first. In addition, these stock product descriptions often are not the most well written from a sales perspective.

Allow Product Reviews:

Product reviews are a sure fire way to ensure your pages are rich with unique content that occurs only on your site. Back when we were able to view supplemental results on the Google SERPs, I found that pages that had unique products reviews did not end up as supplemental results. On the contrary, pages without unique descriptions or product reviews did.

Use Keyword Rich URLs:

Because most ecommerce sites are linked with a dynamic database, they use ugly url's which contain at least one number parameter. Convert your category product page URLs into friendly, keywords rich file and folder names. For more info on URL re-writing, check out this Wikipedia article. For IIS users, you might want to consider this software from Isapi Re-write.

No-Follow Tags in Links:

Many sites distribute their internal link juice in such a way that is not favorable to the product detail pages. In order for your pages to rank highly, they need to receive a decent flow of PageRank. I would strongly recommend slapping a no-follow tag on your less important pages from an SEO perspective (e.g. Privacy, security, about us pages). Add Keywords to Title Tag and Meta Tags:

It goes without saying that all your title tags must be unique and contain the product name. However, this is simply not enough. Create an extra field in your product database where you can add alternative SEO keywords. Then have these keywords show up in the Title tag for each product page. For example, while you'll likely never rank for a high volume keyword search such as "Christian T-shirts", you may stand a chance at ranking for "Cool Christian T-shirts" if you add those phrases to the title tag.

Internal Contextual Linking:

Link to your important product pages internally from a non navigation link. For example, you may want create a keyword rich link in the product description of one product linking to another product page.

Tip:

Do not try and fool the search engines by purchasing links from so called "link farms" or other dubious schemes. You may succeed for a short while, but the search engines will always catch you out and penalize your site heavily.

In this article we will be discussing some SEO tips for readers/webmasters to use on their own websites. There is a lot of webmasters out there with no basic concepts of how to promote their own websites via SEO. In order for an internet surfer to visit your site you need to use certain keywords that the searcher uses.

For instance, if you have a site about fishing. You will want related keywords to use to write related content on those keywords and construct web pages for your site. I personally use a keywords research tool called wordtacker. If you type in fishing into wordtracker it will then give a list of related keywords you can use to create content pages. Wordtracker also gives you the amount of searches a particular keyword or phrase has per day. This is very useful information as it tells you the demand for the keyword that web surfers use each day!

Once you have your keywords you'd like to use for your site, you then need to check to see what the competition is like with these keywords at the search engines. Just type in your keyword in the search engine and make sure you surround the phrase with quotes. The reason for this is because you want to find out how many pages are using the exact phrase match for that keyword phrase. This gives you a good indication as to how much competition there is for your keyword phrase. The lower the competition, the better. Meaning the less amount of effort you need to do in order to have you keyword optimized web page ranking high in the search engines.

Now there are other complexities involved which I wont go into today. I will follow up this article with the complexities you need to know in order to find out what the strength of competition is like. For example, what web pages using the same keywords as you have good in bound links. If they have high quality in bound links you may find it difficult to out rank these pages and their link popularity. You just need to keep adding one way quality back links to the pages that need them the most.

It can be tough and almost a full time job looking after these pages. Making sure that they are all ranking high in the search engines for the terms and phrases that they are optimized for! Should I Use Article Marketing Techniques Or Do I Bum It?

Article Marketing is a successful way to acquire traffic for your website. It has become more popular recently especially with the coined term Bum Marketing. There are differences to each technique, but basically they are both Article Marketing Techniques.

Article Marketing is easy to implement and can be very effective for acquiring free search engine traffic. For the record it is considered off page SEO.

Basically, you write a short 300 to 500 word article on a niche market keyword and add a keyword rich link in your bio box to the website you want to promote. You then submit the article to one of the many article directory sites and anywhere from 2 days to two weeks you should be listed in the search engines.

Repeat the above step a few times with different articles in the same niche as your website with another niche keyword linking back to your website and you will be listed very fast in the search engines.

Bum Marketing is a name that was coined in the last year. It is exactly the same as Article Marketing but with a slight twist.

You would write the same short 300 to 500 word article on a niche market keyword. But, this time you want to use what is called a long tail keyword.

This keyword is so exact in its phrasing that usually has very small amounts of searches done using it every month. And, the kicker is that it has very little and sometimes no competition for that keyword. This means that there is practically no website competing to use the keyword. If you are really lucky there is also little to no PPC programs using that keyword.

Long tail keywords are popular now because it is felt that anyone that does search for this type of keyword is a hungry buyer. It is reasoned that a searcher is looking for a precise item for example charcoal pre-filter for Honeywell Air Cleaner instead of using the general keyword, Air Cleaner. General keywords are considered hard to convert to sales. A searcher of a general keyword is a so called tire kicker who is shopping around but has not made up his mind to buy.

Finally, in the authors bio box of a Bum Marketing article you link directly to the affiliate program you want to promote instead of linking to your website. I think it is similar to the Google Cash promotion method used in promoting via Adwords.

In a nutshell these are the differences between Article Marketing and Bum Marketing. Both are very effective at becoming a successful Affiliate Marketer.
