Free Link Exchange - Improve Your Website

Are you looking to improve your website overall, such as traffic and search engine ranking, one thing you definitely want to consider is a free link exchange. A free link exchange can do wonders for the popularity of your website. One thing that most every search engine looks at, when determining rank placement of your website, is link popularity. The thing about link popularity is that it has now become one of the most identifying factors when it comes to website ranking.

Many people are not aware of what a free link exchange is or how to even begin using one. A free link exchange is a specific website on the internet that allows you to post a link to your website, along with a description, and Meta tags, in efforts of exposing your website to their users. However, most free link exchanges require what is called a reciprocal link. A reciprocal link is the act of exchanging links with another website. To put it simply, they would place your link on their website in exchange for you placing their link on yours.

While this may seem easy and you are probably ready to jump right into finding a free link exchange directory, there are a few things you should know before you get started. First, you want the free link exchange to be relevant or have relevant categories to your own site. If you operate a pet store website, you would not want to participate in a free link exchange with a music store. Instead, you would want to participate in a free link exchange that offers a category or sub category, or conducts business that is relative to your own site.

For example, with a pet store website, you would want to exchange links with a pet food dealer, pet lovers, pet supplies website, or even a breeder, any other site that has to do with pets. Another thing that can help with your link popularity is the ranking of the free link exchange website. The higher the site ranks on search engine, the more relevant your link to and from them becomes in the eyes of the major search engines.

Again, by using a free link exchange, you can improve not only your website, but the traffic and ranking on the search engines

A Review of the Uppercase Living Income Opportunity

If you are interested in an multilevel marketing opportunity that can fit into an otherwise busy day, or one that will allow you to get out and communicate with people, take a look at the opportunities offered by Uppercase Living! This charmingly named business offers positions as Demonstrators to individuals that show an active interest in their product, and with a little bit of preparation, you will be in a good place to do exactly that!

Essentially, Uppercase Living is a company that creates text-based wall decorations. They are aimed at people who are looking for something a little bit different to hang up on their walls, whether that is a child's name, a quotation, or text that is underlined with lovely scrolling. They have several pre-made products, but one of their top sellers are custom made wall decorations. Depending on the taste of the purchaser, the text can be elegantly feminine or bold and striking. Their designs are also ideal for children, and some of the most charming decorations come from the relation of children's book quotes in a little girl or little boy's bedroom.

One of the things that might make you a little leery of this company is actually one that it proudly holds up as an advantage. Uppercase Living doesn't try to pretend that it's not a older company; as a matter of fact, it states that now is the best time to get involved. They essentially say that now is the best time to get on the ground floor of a good thing. Becoming a Demonstrator for Uppercase Living seems fairly straightforward; the company is looking for a great attitude and good communication skills first and foremost.

A Demonstrator's main goal is to make the participants of the party comfortable and familiar with what this company has to offer. Typically, this company is introduced in a convivial atmosphere among parties who are already at least a little interested in what the Demonstrator has to offer. It is fairly plain that Uppercase Living relies on the Demonstrator being able to sell to friends and family, so make sure that you do consider that aspect thoroughly.

With the build-your-own schedule aspect, the party set up and the low pressure sales atmosphere, Uppercase Living might be providing you with a great business opportunity. 5 SEO Abuses That Will Get a Domain Banned

While some of these are innocent mistakes, others are obvious attempts to 'break the rules' and Google Webmaster Guidelines. Most of these abuses at one time were not considered problems by the major search engines, though over the years these have become 'red flags' . Search engines now have strict rules in place to punish websites for breaking published guidelines. These punishments could be a 30-day drop in organic rankings to the most severe total ban of the domain from the search results.

There are many HTML validators available on the Internet to check your web page to make sure it is acceptable. The most unfortunate part of having a domain banned, is that often it is the result of either a SEO contractor or company breaking the accepted web master rules for their client (and the client has no clue about it) or a regular person is unaware of what they are doing can be a potential problem.

Invisible Text

This has been going on for years on the Internet. White text on white background...or basically whatever color your background is, don't use the same color for your text. Why? Because it becomes 'invisible' to the human eye and typically is a trick used to hide keywords for ranking. This is the oldest and lamest abuse you could possibly do. It is also the most obvious to search engines.

Paid Links

Buying links, or a listing in a link directory, was common practice for a number of years. Many people paid, and still pay, to have a link on a high page rank site to boost their web site's ranking and thus do better in organic search results. At one time, search engines really didn't care about if you had paid a some web site to have a link back to yours. Then in 2007, Google came down pretty hard on the link exchange programs on the Internet. Google decided to give less weight to those 'Link Directories' and 'Paid Links' became a taboo. Paid links and link directories are now shunned by the search engines and they favor more of a natural link exchange system.

Doorway Pages

Doorway pages are basically web sites, or a web page, that is optimized for a keyword. The problem that the search engines don't like about these types of pages are that it directs the visitor to the true web site when any hyperlink, URL, is clicked. Or worse, has an automatic refresh (see below) to a different web site. Thus the 'doorway' to the real web site. Google and Yahoo really don't like these tactics and your web site can potentially be yanked from their search results index permanently.

Redirects

There are 2 kinds of redirects. The first is a redirect of a page when it is moved or when a web site is moved. The best way to handle this situation is by using a 301 redirect in the .htacces file. This is an accepted authorized redirect by all search engines. The other type of redirect is a meta redirect that used to be ok, but was severely abused over the years and now all of the search engines will punish you for using it.

Keyword Stuffing

Keyword stuffing is a broad term, but generally speaking, it is using the same keyword many times in a web page to such a degree that it becomes difficult to read the content on the web page. This has been a problem since the first web page was ever created for SEO purposes. To set the record on this, search engines have gotten smart over the years and recognize when this is occurring on a web page. Since this was, and to this day, still being abused, search engines totally ignore the meta-keyword content. So 'stuffing' that information in an image or meta tag is totally useless, yet can still get your web site banned because it is obvious to the search engines that you are trying to abuse and manipulate the organic search results.

It is not hard to build a web page that follows the rules and does not break accepted webmaster guidelines. There are 5 Beginner, 5 Intermediate and 5 Advanced SEO techniques that can help in your SEO efforts. However, these 5 abuses will get a web site banned if and when it is crawled by a search engine, or reported by a web surfer.

Stay away from risky, or Black Hat, SEO techniques when creating content for your web site or having a SEO company do the work for you. It is not worth the risk of getting your web site penalized or banned.

Article Submission Mistake #1 - Focusing on Where Instead of How to Submit Your Articles

Confusion about the difference between where you submit your articles versus how you submit your articles is one of the biggest mistakes most article marketers make.

Where you submit your articles is what most people think of when they think of article submission. I look at article submission a little bit differently. To me article submission is how you submit your articles. Where you submit them is a sub-set of article marketing, article distribution.

In my mind, how you submit your articles is much more important than where. Now you can submit your articles to the best article directories EzineArticles and the other highly-ranked ones and thats great. I want you to do this.

But if you dont submit them well, it doesnt matter because theyre not going to get picked up as much, or you can submit them to any article directory and submit them well.

Many people will rush through the article submission process just wanting to get it done. This is huge mistake. You have spent all this time researching and writing your article, and it will not get picked up and used as much than if you took the time to submit your article well.

One of the article submission tips that will get your article picked up more often to using keywords and benefits in your title. Start with your keywords and then be sure to mention the benefits of reading your article.

Ex: "Article Marketing - How to Get Your Articles Picked Up More Often"

So article submission is how you submit your articles.

Is Being Number 1 In Google All It's Cracked Up To Be?

Anyone who has ever even heard the phrase 'search engine optimisation' will have experienced, largely through countless spam emails, adverts promising you the number 1 spot on 10 major search engines (we're not even convinced there are 10 major search engines) within a month or two. It's nonsense, and the scam here is that you're often top for search terms that no one will ever search for, but I digress: The adverts indicate that the desirable number 1 spot in Google is all important for your online marketing, but is that really true?

Now before you scoff and disregard this article I must stress that ranking well for strategically chosen and targeted keywords is all important. It's just that 'well' doesn't always translate as being 'number 1'. Statistically speaking, minimal numbers ever click past the third screen of results (although they don't always go from Page 1 to 2 to 3 - many people look at, for example Page1 then 4, then 9) before retreating to refine their keywords if they don't find what they're looking for on their first go. In fact, most people don't even click the second page, so a top 10 ranking is definitely desirable.

That said there are definitely things that you should consider before you spend valuable time and resources hunting that number 1 slot:

A site lower down the results page can outperform a site higher up.

It's something of a myth that says a site's traffic numbers from search engines is purely a result of its position. The assumption is that the higher you are, the more traffic you get - this isn't always true. If your titles and descriptions seem to match the searcher's requirements, and you're still visible you will often get the click ahead of number 1 (assuming you're in the top 10!)

To take an example, for the search 'Holidays to Istanbul' if, in the results page, your title and description says "Low Cost Holidays to Istanbul" but you are in the position 4, then you are probably still likely to get more clicks into your site than a competitor's listing that says "Low Cost Holidays to Turkey", even if your competitor is higher up in the search engine results page.

Page 1 on a Search Engine is not always good Value for Money

Imagine you rent a shop on the High Street. Yes, you will get more traffic but your rent will also be very high, which means that your profit per sale will be reduced. There are lots of shops 2 or 3 streets behind the High Street and even further away, who also do good business. They get lower traffic numbers but, as their rent is much lower, their profit per sale is much higher. Especially for niche shops, being on the High Street is usually not good value for money.

This same analogy works for search engines. It costs more money to optimise or PPC your site for the first page of a search engine results page but sometimes being on a lower page will actually prove to be a better business proposition as the costs involved will be much lower.

Search engines aren't the only source of traffic!

Search engines aren't the only place online where people look for your services or products. Sure, they're important and can lead to more sales and brand awareness, but people can find your site from other sources too: email newsletters, word of mouth, traffic from other websites and increasingly through social media. None of these replace the humble search engine in terms of importance (yet!), but they do combine to provide a valuable source of visitors, and often these may be cheaper and less time consuming for a better quality of customer.

Site conversion and sales are more important than traffic for traffic's sake

Let's go back a step here. Why do people care about their Google ranking? To get more visitors. Okay, go back one step further, why do they want more visitors? To get more sales.

Sure, top spot will, with the right title and description, almost always get more visitors, but that's completely counter intuitive if the users are rushing into the site, not finding what they want and clicking out just as readily! In most cases, it's a far better idea to spend more time and resources worrying about site conversion strategies (look to book strategies) than pushing for that spot higher in Google.

So perhaps it's best to stop obsessing over number 1 slot, and be satisfied with offering the best experience you can offer. Being number 1 is a massive ego boost, and will increase your visibility, but there are more important issues to be concerned with when marketing your website. Good sites will rise naturally over time, and in the greater scheme of things a good site conversion rate and customer experience is preferable to vast quantities of unfocussed traffic anyway.

Want To Make Residual Income Online Time After Time?

So, who wants to make residual income online? (If you don't have your hand up in the air right now, call your family doctor, because you should. And you can be making residual income starting TODAY.)

By writing articles that are rich with the keywords that Google needs at the moment (think supply and demand here) then you run the very strong possibility of having that article find its way into the natural search results page.

For example, you write an article about "Alcohol Dependency Among Teens" because you've done you keyword research and this looks to be a ripe opportunity to do some writing. So far, great.

You then submit your article to ezinearticles.com one of the best directories in the eyes of Google (the biggest engine on the planet). So far, even better.

Now here's the fun part. Because ezine is so highly Page Ranked and because it has become one of the most prominent, if not THE most prominent article directoRy out there, Google places VERY HIGH values on the articles submitted here.

Google and the other engines then perform the searches actively looking for the content it needs. And if "Alcohol Dependency Among Teens" is something that they need (low supply) they will very quickly get your article up as a natural result!

So wait, I thought this article was about how to make residual income online. It is!

That article now 'lives' on that page of Google results. Depending on how popular that keyword is, thousands or tens of thousands of people will now be exposed to your article. That's repeated exposure. And repeated exposure is the pure definition of residual.

The income part of this equation happens in your resource box. That's where you very nicely invite people over to your site to read a review, or check out your latest and greatest.

Writing articles and mastering article marketing is one of the best ways to make residual income online. If there's a better, more natural way, I'd love to hear about it.

4 Quick Tips For SEO

Search engine optimization (SEO) is when you take certain steps in order to rank higher in the search engine results and thus get more traffic. The best ways to achieve this are by site building, link building, on page optimization and keyword research and selection. You will need to work on each of these areas in order to develop the strategies that will help your site rank well. It will be easier for some keywords compared to others. Just remember it will take time and that your goal should be to get more traffic, not rank higher necessarily.

Keyword selection is probably the most important part of SEO. You may think that you know exactly which keywords you should be using, but you don't. The most common mainstream keywords are going to be the most expensive and difficult to achieve a high ranking for. You will need to think out of the box. I like to sit down and brainstorm on a piece of paper. I write out as many keywords as I can think of and start building my list. Google Adwords has a keyword tool that helps me come up with more once I'm all out of ideas. It is best to put down as many as you can come up with. Once you have your list you should start to knock some off by looking up how many people actually searched for that phrase and who your competition is.

The way your site is built is also crucial to your online success. The way your pages are structured and coded will have a great impact on your SEO efforts. In order for your pages to be found for a search they need to be indexed by the search engines. Javascript menus often throw off search engines when they are trying to index your website. This doesn't mean that you can't use them, but if you do, make sure to include another way to navigate your site. This alternate navigation should contain links that are text only. You should also make a sitemap that includes all of the pages on your site.
